Orsmond Aerial Spray was founded in 1973 by Ret Orsmond, an experienced commercial pilot with more than 35 years in agricultural aviation and over 20,000 flying hours. Starting with a single Piper Pawnee, Ret built the operation into the largest privately owned fleet of agricultural aircraft in South Africa, with over 25 operational aircraft today. The company is headquartered at Bethlehem Airfield in the Free State province.
Orsmond’s aerial application service portfolio covers spraying, seeding, and fertilizing; fire spotting, control, and fighting; cloud seeding and modification research; pollution monitoring; photography and survey work; and pest and plague control. The company operates internationally across Africa utilizing mostly Ayres Turbine Thrush and Air Tractor aircraft. All aircraft are maintained in large workshop facilities at the Bethlehem Airfield, and the company operates as an approved maintenance organization.
As an authorized Satloc dealer, Orsmond Aerial Spray provides sales and support for Satloc GPS guidance systems to agricultural aviation operators across South Africa and the broader African continent. The company’s close working relationships with major aircraft and equipment manufacturers worldwide ensure operators have access to the latest precision guidance technology.
